Join us for the 10th annual Southwest Environmental
Health Sciences Center workshop on integrating toxicology
into secondary classes.
This
free, weeklong, half-day course will present interdisciplinary
methods for teaching environmental
health. The workshop will contain lectures, tours,
engaging hands-on lessons and computer-based activities.
Tours are scheduled for the Synthetic Chemistry and
Cellular Imaging laboratories
of the Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center (SWEHSC) at the University
of Arizona. Guest speakers from the SWEHSC will discuss their research concerning
skin cancer, air toxins, and trichloroethylene (TCE).
New and exciting opportunities
for partnerships between teachers and the SWEHSC Community Outreach and Education
Program (COEP) will be presented. Lessons from the COEP curriculum “PULSE: Promoting Understanding and
Learning for Society and Environmental Health” will be introduced. A
CD-ROM and print versions of the curriculum will be provided. Participants
