MEDSTART
MedStart is a College of Medicine program open to high school juniors
who have a strong interest in the health care professions. Students
live in a dorm for a week in the summer, explore health careers
and attend classes such as chemistry, English and health sciences
presentations. Tutoring classes
are also offered.
This year, Dr. Theodore Tong, Associate Dean and Professor at the
College of Pharmacy, and Director of the Arizona Poison Control System
took part in MedStart. Debbie Gevirtzman and Travis Biazo from the
Community Outreach and Education Program conducted the California
Blackworms: Alcohol experiment for the students. This experiment
shows the dangers associated with alcohol in organisms.
PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
