Naturally Occurring Pesticides
(7-12 grade toxicology curriculum)



Students extract compounds from common plants or plant parts (e.g., tobacco, marigolds, herbs and spices). Students then demonstrate that some of these plants produce pesticidal compounds by exposing insects to the extracts.
